Beauty trends gone wrong!

It's a Saturday night, about 2 years ago, and I am relaxing in the living with my Husband and Son. I am pretty sure we were watching some sort of Disney movie or Marvel movie, but none the less, we're in for the night. My Daughter only really likes drama, scary or romance movies, so she is just hanging out in her room being a typical 15 year old girl. Quite some time goes by and I go check in with her and she is in her bedroom applying a charcoal face mask and has the whole setup everywhere.
About 15 more minutes go by and I hear a loud scream come from the bathroom. Her Father and I jolted up off the couch and ran only to find her covering her face and sobbing hysterically. When she removes her hands, oh my Lord! Her face was beat red, swollen like a sumo wrestler so bad that she could barely open her eyes. We ask her what happened and she proceeds to tell us ALL of the 15 products she just used on her face.
The 4 of us went to the ER, because it's too late for Urgent Care, and all I could do is just look at my plump faced 15 year old sitting there, just miserable that the things she used to try and make her face seem more beautiful than it already was, just did her dirty.
The waiting subsided after about an hour and the Doctor had to break it to her that she had to get a Steroid shot because the swelling had went down her neck. This poor girl just teared up and looked at me. Her eyes glistened with regret and her mouth opened to say, "How fast will this work? I have school on Monday."
The Doctor let her down gently and said that it may not go down to normal by then and she will need to ice it on and off for a few days. She was so upset. The beauty trends of some of her favorite icons have maliciously mixed together to form a toxin on her skin, which led to a 2 week recovery.
The worst thing that had ever happened to me when I was around her age was my period leaking through my pants during school. That is a minor and short lived issue. I felt so bad that she had to endure this for 2 weeks. She begged and begged every morning to be able to stay home from school but I could not let it happen. So, she decided that while she was recovering, she would just wear a cloth face mask, because, ya know, the pandemic had normalized it to a certain extent. She would learn to regret that decision shortly after.
The first day she decided to wear the mask to school, she came home with a rash on the sides of her cheeks. It had rubbed throughout the day so badly that it was rubbing her face raw and irritating the still inflamed skin. I grabbed her a Luke warm , wet wash cloth to set on her face and told her she could not wear the mask to school the next day as it would only make things worse. She was not happy with me nor herself but she ended up listening and nothing like this has ever happened again.
It is definitely a time during your childhood when you learn the most through trial and error. She definitely learned not to mix a million different skincare products and I definitely learned to keep my laughter to myself.
That's crazy!
